Why you Should Help

That warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you are helping to save thousand of little children from getting killed or getting their limbs blown off.
Imagine how proud of you your parents/ grandparents/ children/ grandchildren will be knowing that you have helped with this project
It will look great on your resume. Could help you beat all the opposition in getting a great new job or promotion.
You will become particularly attractive to members of the opposite sex when they find out about the great work you have done on this project
By becoming involved now you come in at the beginning of the project. This allows you to be one of the grand master experts on the project.
This sort of work will make a great dinner/party conversation topic
You could become very rich from use of the final product. The final product will be useful for other things such as creating gold detectors.
As part of this project your design is done with a purpose. Due to this you will find that you end up learning far more and far easier than learning from study.

How to Help

As well as helping yourself you might consider getting your company/business you work for, to get involved or to donate. This could get them very valuable publicity.
Help to advertise the project. Spread the word to as many relevant forums and groups as possible.

Design and Manufacture of Coils
Design of Interface/Amplifier/filter/Cancellation Circuits
Circuit Board layout of Interface/Amplifier/filter/Cancellation Circuits
Manufacture of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) for the Interface/Amplifier/filter/Cancellation Circuits
Research similar projects, Create Overview Documents
Set up and control a Source Code Version Control System (eg CVS)
Create specifications for the interfaces between software modules
Create Interface software to the Sound Card
Create Digital Signal Processor (DSP) code and interfaces to other code.
Create Code that processes the DSP output and creates likelihood that there is a mine under or near the coils.
Help to interface a GPS (Global Positioning System)
Create good display/output/logging of final results
Write User Documentation.
