Building and thriving: a review of the evidence linking building design to health and wellbeing

In 2023 Humanise commissioned the New Economics Foundation to examine the evidence which shows that the external design of buildings is important for the health and wellbeing of people who live, work, or interact with and within them.

Their literature review frames the philosophical and psychological importance of the external design of buildings for health and wellbeing, focusing on the burgeoning field of neuroaesthetics, and on explicit design features which lead to health-enhancing behaviours and outcomes.
